A Texas man was stripped of his US citizenship and deported for lying on an immigration form he filled out 25 years ago, DallasNews reports.
A former lieutenant in the Salvadoran army was prosecuted for illegally obtaining US citizenship, which led to his deportation to his homeland in El Salvador.
He was accused of concealing information about a previous detention in connection with the 1988 massacre in which 10 unarmed Salvadoran citizens were brutally murdered. During the 12-year civil war in El Salvador, 75,000 people died.
The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The press release states that ICE has expelled 1,100 people “known or suspected of violating human rights” from the US.
The Verita Foundation warns: Providing false information could be considered immigration fraud and subject to severe penalties!
